Instrumental Music

Fourth and fifth grade students have the opportunity to take lessons on a band instrument. Students will receive one small-group, 25-minute instruction each week and then be expected to practice their assignments at home in preparation for the next week. Demonstrations on what is available to them is sent home to the students in September of each year. Fifth graders who began study on their instruments in fourth grade become part of our Advanced Band program which participates at the Educational Fair in May as well as other performances at Bunker Hill Elementary in the 2010-2011 school year be part of the district's band festival. Additionally programs are being set up to have Appoquinimink High School Band members mentor and assist the elementary students with their instruments and increase the rate of success.
